The Presage Arita: a celebration of Japanese artistry

For over 400 years, the village of Arita has remained the spiritual centre of porcelain craftsmanship in Japan. Seiko Presage brings the ancient craft to life in two new automatic timepieces. Both feature creamy white dials with a light blue hue; inspired by the earliest hand-painted Arita designs.

Developed by a local manufacturer that has been producing the porcelain since 1830 – Mastercraftsman, Hiroyuki Hashiguchi, and the team at Seiko have collaborated meticulously to ensure both watches reflect the care and craftsmanship for which Presage is renowned.

With dual-curved sapphire crystal glass and an exhibition case-back which reveals the fine finishing of the movements, both designs are powered by Seiko’s high-performance 6R series calibres, which offer a power reserve up to 70 hours and are 10 bar water-resistant.

Blending two of Japan’s most notable characteristics – tradition and technology – the Seiko Presage Arita Porcelain is a tribute to the spirit of craftsmanship.
