Secure That New Bike This Christmas!

High-tech Welsh firm Litelok has launched the world’s lightest secure bike lock, Litelok Silver’.

Coming in three wearable sizes, it’s a premium, durable, bike lock that’s been engineered for security using a unique patented material and hardened aerospace-grade steel alloy.

Able to withstand two tonnes of force, Silver has been designed by Litelok’s founder, ex-Rolls Royce aeronautical engineer Professor Neil Barron. It uses his ‘Boaflexicore’ material which not only ensures security and flexibility but results in a lock that is 40-50% lighter than other Silver security-rated U and D locks, chains and cables.

Silver’s flexibility enables it to be secured to far more places than rigid U and D locks – such as tree trunks and lamp posts. It also features a user-friendly vertical locking and unlocking mechanism – ensuring comfortable, downward, line of sight which means people don’t have to crane their neck to open or close it.

As well as being put through its paces by testing experts Sold Secure, Silver has been tested by both Swansea University and in the firm’s own high-tech facility. Tests showed that, in comparison to competitors, Silver is much more difficult to break than other locks using a tool such as a crowbar or tyre iron – Boaflexicore’s properties just result in energy being built up, which then sees the lock spring back and unwind violently.

While wearable, Silver can also be attached to a bike using supplied Velcro straps – or simply placed in a rucksack. The three sizes are 52cm (weighing just 630g), 70cm (730g) and 85cm (830g). RRPs: £59.99, £69.99 and £79.99.  There’s also a ‘Twin’ version available (£109.99) which allows two locks to be joined together to make a double length lock or used separately for twice the security. Both use the same set of unique keys, which is a great option for couples or family members. Available: @litelok.

Litelok has also partnered with Yellow Jersey insurance to offer worldwide theft protection for bicycles – so long as they’ve been secured by one of its locks. The policy’s available when purchasing any Litelok.
