A perfect excuse to celebrate summer...
This summer, take a long sip and soak up the sunshine with Silent Pool gin at The Refinery Bankside and The Happenstance in St Paul’s. From now until 31st July, these two central London bars and restaurants have launched their very own ‘Chelsea Fringe’ by transforming their spacious terraces into beautiful gardens in collaboration with award-winning RHS Show designer, David Neale.
Taking inspiration from David’s prize-winning Silent Pool Garden created for last year’s Chelsea Flower Show, the gardens feature carefully selected plants and flowers known for their health and wellbeing benefits. Bunches of fragrant roses and delicate elderflower boast powerful antioxidants and promote easy-breathing, whilst beautiful Iris Sibirica helps to ease the mind and allow guests to unwind.
The flourishing woodland-esque Happenstance terrace overlooks the cobbled, bustling Paternoster Square and is the ideal setting for a spot of lunch and people-watching or an early evening cocktail or two. Meanwhile over in the heart of Bankside, The Refinery’s garden sanctuary showcases an enchanting array of British blooms and foliage giving guests a place to escape from the crowds and sounds of nearby London Bridge and Tate Modern.
Bringing to life the colours, fragrance and exuberance of the Chelsea Flower Show, Drake & Morgan’s mixologists have partnered with Silent Pool Gin to curate a limited-edition cocktail menu to complement David’s designs. Available until 31st July, these delicate serves pair natural, floral flavours with the perfect mix and muddle of fresh British ingredients.
Opt for a glass of Enchanted Rose (£9.95) which infuses Silent Pool gin with Belsazar rosé vermouth, raspberry and rose tea syrup and lemon; or choose the Light But Not Low (£7.25) which combines Silent Pool with London Essence Co’s bitter orange and elderflower tonic. Groups of three or more can delight in a delicious ‘pot’ ofEnchanted Tea (£24.95) which features Silent Pool gin, Belsazar rosé vermouth, raspberry and rose tea syrup, London Essence Co’s bitter orange and elderflower tonic and a dash of lemon; or simply treat yourself to a classic Garden G&T (£6.75).
To add an extra element of interest and intrigue to your evenings this summer, Drake & Morgan has scheduled a number of talks and activities which will take place at The Happenstance and The Refinery Bankside throughout their ‘Chelsea Fringe’. Ensuring things are all kept ‘zen’, events will include the likes of relaxed mixology classes with the expert distillers behind Silent Pool Gin, a Q&A evening about garden design with David Neale, and a series of talks, perfect for those after an inspirational evening during the working week.
